FAIR TAX SYSTEM? THIS IS HOW IT REALLY WORKS!

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for a beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100.

If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this.

The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
The fifth would pay $1.
The sixth would pay $3.
The seventh would pay $7.
The eighth would pay $12.
The ninth would pay $18.
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.

So, that's what they decided to do. The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. 'Since you are all such good customers,' he said, 'I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20. 'Drinks for the ten now cost just $80.

The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men - the paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his 'fair share?'

They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So, the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.

And so the fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).

The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings).
The seventh now pay $5 instead of $7 (28%savings).
The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings).
The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 ( 22% savings).
The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).

Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.

"I only got a dollar out of the $20," declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man, "but he got $10!''

Yeah, that's right," exclaimed the fifth man. "I only saved a dollar, too ... It's unfair that he got ten times more than I did!"

''That's true!!" shouted the seventh man. "Why should he get $10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!"

''Wait a minute," yelled the first four men in unison. 'We didn't get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!"

The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up. The next night the tenth man didn't show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn't have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!

And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.
 FAIR DEBT COLLECTION PRACTICES
 § 802.  Congressional findings and declarations of purpose  [15 USC 1692]
(a) There is abundant evidence of the use of abusive, deceptive, and unfair debt collection practices by many debt collectors. Abusive debt collection practices contribute to the number of personal bankruptcies, to marital instability, to the loss of jobs, and to invasions of individual privacy.
(b) Existing laws and procedures for redressing these injuries are inadequate to protect consumers.
(c) Means other than misrepresentation or other abusive debt collection practices are available for the effective collection of debts.
(d) Abusive debt collection practices are carried on to a substantial extent in interstate commerce and through means and instrumentalities of such commerce. Even where abusive debt collection practices are purely intrastate in character, they nevertheless directly affect interstate commerce.
(e) It is the purpose of this title to eliminate abusive debt collection practices by debt collectors, to insure that those debt collectors who refrain from using abusive debt collection practices are not competitively disadvantaged, and to promote consistent State action to protect consumers against debt collection abuses. DEBTOR ADVOCACY
The CREDIT & COLLECTIONS industry has built their business on deception and intimidation. From the first commercial on TV for "Easy Payments" until the time you pay off your debt your creditors ride roughshod over you knowing most consumers are ill informed of their rights. They have duped many of you into believing they can do things they cannot do. They have cheated and lied to the American public and continue to do so.
The collection practices of most financial institutions are based on fear. Collectors threaten to take your money, your home, or your livelihood even when they know they cannot follow through with their threats or have no intention on doing so, and we consumers fall face first into their hands or end up filing bankruptcy without understanding why.... We fear the UNKNOWN.
The number one reason for bankruptcy is fear of creditors. Fear of what they might do to us. Their threats wreak havoc on our entire being. The problem is we have no idea what they actually can do to us. Most have no understanding of the credit and collection process. But the collection process is predictable, if you know the facts. This includes understanding your basic rights as a debtor and how the foreclosure and legal collection process works in your state.
When you are going through a financial emergency you need facts. You need to understand exactly what you are facing and the options available to you.
You have rights!
We want you to stand up for yourself and enforce your rights. You dont have to take creditor abuse and you dont have to lose your home, your paycheck or your livelihood.
The bottom line is that your creditor just wants their money. The problem is you cannot pay out what you do not have. So it is imperative to show your creditors what you realistically can or cannot afford to pay.
Financial Emergency is not a Consumer Credit Counseling Service and we never handle your money. We dont offer a canned program like other debt counseling services. We can help you with your more serious issues that most services won't touch. We look at the whole picture and can help you set priorities. We offer real solutions, not just a band-aid.
Give us a call and let me show how things really work. Dont trust your home or your finances to just anyone.

OBAMA WINS- Will we remain a democratic nation?
Permanent Democracy?
"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largess from the public treasury. From that time on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the results that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship."
The average age of the world's great civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence:
from bondage to spiritual faith;
from spiritual faith to great courage;
from courage to liberty;
from liberty to abundance;
from abundance to selfishness;
from selfishness to complacency;
from complacency to apathy;
from apathy to dependency;
from dependency back again to bondage."
Sir Alex Fraser Tytler (1742-1813), Scottish jurist, historian and professor of Universal History at Edinburgh University.  From a collection of lectures 1801, as sited in A Dictionary of Quotations, 1989

Quick Tip    If you are receiving harassing collection calls from bill collectors please review the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Know your rights in the collection process. You cannot enforce your rights if you do not know what they are.
